CBGB Festival: Film Screenings

On October 10, 11, 12 and 13, the 2013 CBGB Festival will present film screenings of some of the best rock films/documentaries ever made and some that have never been seen in New York before. Over 120 film screenings will be shown in downtown Manhattan and Brooklyn. Many films will also have a Q&A/Talkbacks with the directors/producers/stars of the film/documentaries.

Blank City tells the long-overdue tale of the motley crew of renegade filmmakers that emerged from an economically bankrupt and dangerous period of New York History. It's a fascinating look at the way this misfit cinema used the deserted, bombed-out Lower East Side landscapes to craft daring works that would go on to profoundly influence Independent Film today.

About CBGB

CBGB (Country, BlueGrass, and Blues) was a music club at 315 Bowery at Bleecker Street in the borough of Manhattan in New York City. Founded by Hilly Kristal in 1973, it was originally intended to feature its namesake musical styles, but became a forum for American punk and New Wave bands like Ramones, Misfits, Television, the Patti Smith Group, Mink DeVille, The Dead Boys, The Dictators, The Fleshtones, The Voidoids, The Cramps, Blondie, The Shirts, and Talking Heads.
